After yesterday's article I got to thinking about what additional destinations were important when it comes to creating a clear image of what it is you want in life. I had lots of different ideas and they all seemed valid so I decided to wait until the end of my day to allow the clarity to come through and then decide what to share with you Today I spent the day as a participant in an enlightening workshop as part of an alumni program for a Business Breakthrough program I participated in back in May last year (check out the next one happening in Perth this coming March). The focus of today was on DISC profiling. Forgive me if you know what DISC is as a profiling tool but I'm going to give a really brief introduction here. DISC is essentially a personality profiling tool that helps us to better understand ourselves and others. There are many profiling tools out there that do similar things and all give us critical insights into our unique selves. That, for me, is the awesome bit and the stuff that enables me to grow! I love learning about people, stretching myself to learn more and gain more understanding about myself and others and to sharing my knowledge with other people so they too can be more enlightened, if you like. At the very least I am opening up opportunities and possibilities that perhaps did not exist before hand | Here's some of my favourite Growth quotes for added inspiration; "The only journey is the journey within" ~ Rainer Maria Rilke "Be not afraid of growing slowly; be afraid only of standing still" Chinese Proverb "Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom" ~ Aristotle “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever" ~ Mahatma Gandhi “The purpose of learning is growth, and our minds, unlike our bodies, can continue growing as we continue to live" ~ Mortimer Adler |

The word inspiration has, I believe, a certain quality of inspiration about it. When I hear this word or it's sisters, inspire, inspirer, inspired, I get a sense of expansion and possibility. I have never met anyone who has not been inspired at some point in their lives. My question is though, how do you go from being the inspired one to the inspirer; the one doing the inspiring?
There are many many people in our beautiful world who are natural inspirers. They have the gift of inspiration, coupled with the gift of belief. Belief in others and most importantly belief in themselves. Without that belief I feel that the inspiration has a tendancy to lose it's power. It gets diluted by self-doubt, incongruence, diminishing confidence and the message of inspiration just doesn't have the same glow about it To embrace the Inspirer Believer lead-HER-ship style is not something difficult. It is, in my mind a simple formula of 100% self belief, 100% belief in others, 100% openess to be inspired and 100% commitment to share your knowledge, experiences, gifts and personal magic with your community, be that your immediate friends and family or on a visionary creator global scale What inspires you the most each day and how can you take that inspiration, coupled with the belief that if you've been inspired others may be too and share that with the world? go forth Inspirer Beleivers and share your message with heartfelt conviction... the world is waiting to hear from you Will There Be A Time In Your Lifetime Where Women Leading Is An Unremarkable Thing?
Last night I had the absolute pleasure of joining with some very dear friends to share an incredible experience. Right now, in my home town on Perth, the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) has just been officially opened. What does that mean? it means that there are literally hundreds of intersting, dynamic and powerful men and women who are literal leaders in their respective countires gathered together to discuss the potential future of the Commonwealth nations. This is a big deal on so many levels and literally a big deal for Perth to play host as this has to be one of the most isolated capitol cities in the world As I mentioned, last night I shared a very remarkable experience. I joined with friends and fellow participants of the Catherine McCauley Women in Leadership and Service Award Program to attend a pre-CHOGM event, the Empowering Women to Lead Dinner hosted by our first female Prime Minister, the honourable Julia Gillard, alongside with Australia's first female Governor General, Quentin Bryce. They were joined by a panel of leading ladies representing countries from across the Commonwealth to hold a discussion on the key topic, Empowering Women to Lead Now I wouldn't say that I am 'into' politics but I do get very clearly that these women, along with others working in political and senior government and some NGO based positions, do have the potential to influence change in a significant, lasting way. There were a lot of messages that stood out for me but one particurly stood out above the rest. Julia Gillard spoke of a desire in her lifetime to experience a sustained time where it will be unremarkable for a women to hold key leadership positions across all industries, all nations, all religions, anything in fact. Last night as each of the panelists were introduced we regularly heard, "The first woman to...", "The only woman to...." and the like. The great thing for me was that while these true Pioneer Seekers, Heroine Adventurers, Visionary Creators and Queen Rulers were first ladies in many respects of the word they were sitting there collectively as a group of women, inspiring others to be determined, focused and to be persistent in their belief in themselves and pursuit of their dreams I too, wish for a world where women leading is an unremarkable thing and that we no longer need to count how many women are doing anything because their is equality and we all, as peoples of this world, come together to work harmoniously, men and women, boys and girls, with the purpose of creating a world that is truly remarkable. I was also proud to be amongst a group of over 500 women who were there, together as firsts, sharing the first pre-CHOGM event focusing purely on the Empowerment of Women The question I want to leave you with is, "How can we, as women of priviledge, simply by the fact that we are educated, take real action to make a difference to the lives of our sisters around the world, in the Commonwealth nations and beyond so that everywoman has the opportunity to be seen as remarkable?" I started my day with a very early appearance on The Difference Radio show and had such a fabulous time talking with the co-hosts Robyn and Debi, amazing, inspiring women who are also Difference Collaborators This was really the first time I got to share my passion for personal leadership and empowerment in a such a way that I know I was completely walking my talk and being in the space of my core genius. I was completely connected to the Visionary Creator that I am and therefore I was in my Effortless Success zone. Everything flowed freely, easily and created a great sense of energy and momentum! At the end of the show Robyn and Debi gifted me with some very powerful reflections that they had from our time together that I just had to capture and share with you all First up Debi had 2 specific Take Aways: 1. Wisdom is to stand empowered in service, not servitude 2. Expressing my gifts and strengths everyday is to live from my authentic empowered self and a Challenge for everyone to take up which was to ask something I ask myself each and every day: "How am I going to show up as the leader in my life today?" Robyn then shared the following beautiful affirmation based on our conversation: "I am stand strong in my personal power and lead myself and others from my purpose and creative space I trust myself and put my energy into my vision for my self and my world I am the creator of my life and the visionary of my life I am filled with possibilities and the conviction to see them manifest into reality I am blessed, loved, supported and upheld as a leader I stand in gratitude for all I have been, all I am and all I will be Blessings be" Dr Robyn Mills You can listen to the replay of the episode here or below Wishing you a beautiful day filled with succulent effortless success Listen to internet radio with The Difference on Blog Talk Radio A Netwoker Connector hey? Has your life been about big visions and bold goals? If I were to ask you to describe your personal leadership style - the way you express yourself in your life, your business, your career - would you respond with a colourful, bright description of how you're going to fulfilling some great quest, be the first at something, infuse colour and creativity into everything you do and also help many many people along the way? A Visionary Creator is one of the most common primary leadership archetypes expressed by entrepreneurial women. Visionary women. Women who thrive on creating. Women who create in a big, bold, brightly coloured way. Women who have a determination and passion that is big..... really big. They see the potential in absolutely everything and they love the thrill of the journey to bring their dreams to reality As a leader, a Visionary Creator is the one with all the ideas. She's key to your team's success if you're all about doing things in new, different ways. Her natural expression is grounded in clear-sighted vision, creativity, innovation and fun. She generally see's things before anyone else and is often considered a real pioneer, the one who goes first, who leads the way for others across new terrain, navigating intersting, challenging landscapes with a refreshing, beautiful approach Want to know if you really are a Visionary Creator and how to leverage your natural strengths to create Effortless Success? Join me at an upcoming seminar, launching locally in October 2011 You may have gathered that leadership is one of my great passions. Really, personal leadership is, in my opinion and from my observation, the ultimate in empowerment. Being a leader or taking on a leadership role is not out of your reach. To be a leader doesn't mean you have to be getting up in front of large groups of people sharing your message, being the front person in an organisation or taking the reigns of some important, very visible project. It starts with you being you. It means that you get to call the shots, stand tall, stride forward with purpose and live your life on your terms. Now tell me, who doesn't want to experience that?
In October 2011 I'll be launching the all new Effortless Success Seminar: Unleashing the Power of Your Leadership Archetypes
Do you know what sort of feminine leader you are? Do you even consider yourself to be a leader? All women have lead-HER-ship potential. Often they just don't realise it, or know how to access their deeply hidden strengths. That's why I've bought together my extensive experience working with Archetypes to provide women inspired to lead with a model, a paradigm if you like, for connecting with and leveraging their inner leader Over the course of the next few week's I will be sharing articles, video's and inspirational vlogs to help you to understand your leadership potential..... You are a visionary You are a leader It's time to shine! First identified by Swiss Psychologist Carl Jung, Archetypes are simply models of people, behaviours and personality. Jung dedicated a great deal of his professional and personal life to understanding human nature and in particular the 'Collective Unconscious'. It was within this collective unconscious, a deep part of our unconscious mind (the 'subconscious' as it's also referred to) that he believed a range of different archetypes existed. The collective unconscious is where, through connection with our individual archetypes, we can embody an inherited, universal set of standards and beliefs
When mapped back to the myth and stories that have existed since the begining of time, such as the myth and stories of Gods and Goddesses from around the world, archetypes provide us with a powerful way to understand ourselves, how we function and grow, how we build and maintain relationships and best of all how can be our brilliant selves with ease simply by knowing our innate strengths and integrating all aspects of what makes us who we are. Archetypes provide us with an illuminating and enlightening way to know and express who we really are Never before has there been a model that focuses on the significance of leadership archeytpes. Following years of experience working with archetypes and deep, soulful in-depth observation of what makes a woman take ownership and step up as the leader of her life, Shannon brings you a unique, fun, exciting opportunity to know yourself better than you ever thought possible. With that knowing and Shannon's expert guidance you'll discover a framework for leveraging your personal innate archetypal strengths so that you can achieve more than you ever thought possible with great ease, free-flowing freedom, personal satisfaction and pure joy Join Shannon at an upcoming Effortless Success Seminar and discover how you can unleash the power of your Feminine Leadership Archetypes Being a visionary is about being a pioneer
